Your host: Brian Ivanovick
If you’ve taken the trouble to come and visit my blog, the least I can do is tell you a little about me so you know where I’m coming from. My name is Brian Ivanovick and I was born in London, Ontario Canada. I grew up in southwestern Ontario with stints in Sarnia, Brantford and yes Burford along the way.
I moved to Montreal, Quebec in 1993 and received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from McGill University in 1997. Shortly thereafter my friend Andy and I started an Internet retail business together. After a year and a half, Andy left and I took over full time. For the next 7 years, I built the business with hard work, luck and a wee bit of knowledge.
In 2002, I returned to McGill to pursue my MBA. I graduated in 2004 with a concentration in Finance and a determination to grow the business further.
Upon graduation I didn’t realize was that I was completely burnt out and tired of running my business. If you’ve ever run your own company you probably know that giving up on your baby is extremely difficult. I’ll detail the thought process in a post or two. I’ve recently begun negotiations to sell the business to my business partner. Update: business sold January 31, 2006.
Update #2 — September 2007 — I’m now working at Offermatica Inc, the industry-leading website optimization company. As of this writing, I’ve completed my first week of work. More insights to come.
Update #3 - November 2008 — Omniture acquired Offermatica back in December of 2007. So now I work for them. I transferred to the NYC office a couple of months ago and am loving life.
So I want to use this blog to reflect back on the knowledge I’ve acquired and hopefully get feedback from people interested in business, entrepreneurship and technology.
Although this weblog is a forum for my professional interests, I love music, art, sports and most of all — my friends and family.
Thanks for reading, Brian
